There are plenty of good schools, hospitals and fire stations to choose a CPR course from, in Los Angeles. These include among others, the University of California, Life Saver Team, American Red Cross, St. John Ambulance service and Mary Cunningham's American Heart Association Training Centre. It is important to identify the certifying agency of any CPR class, before making a choice in its favor. However, there are steps to be adhered to, to ensure the best outcome.

The basic courses are the Adult CPR classes, Infant CPR classes, Child CPR classes and AED for infants, kids, and adults. AED is short for Mechanized External Defillbrator. It assists in the recovery process, especially in cases of choking of either an unconscious or a critically aware person. It is recommended for babysitters, teachers, security guards, private trainers and other persons. They also include, the Basic Life Support for Health care providers, also known as CPR for professional rescuers.

An aspiring certificate holder must ensure that the institution offers a certification card for a completed course, first and foremost. The courses must also be taken from skilled instructors in possession of valid certification themselves. They must also keep up to date with information on CPR. The common man outside the medical profession would be suited for the Heart saver AED. CPR is best suited for nurses, paramedics, medical personnel, dentists, doctors and such-like persons.

An aspirant must be sure of the courses offered by their institution of choice, as there are various CPR courses available. They range from, Mechanized External Defillbrator, to the infant, kid and adult CPR, and both the conscious and unconscious courses for choking. The best course however, if available, would be the CPR Certification program. In addition, an aspirant must ensure that the certification card rendered has a validity of two years.

It is most advisable to choose a class that provides the categories on almost all days. Moreover, one must ascertain whether the institution provides cluster training. Since these classes combine theory and practical learning, the best classes therefore, are those that include class area coaching; it allows for the acquiring of practical information on techniques otherwise learnt by reading or listening. A mannequin should be available for every student, to practice performing chest compressions. Key advantages of each student having their own mannequin include the discovery of the amount of pressure needed to perform the procedure. Such information can only be acquired through repetitive practice. Another thing to consider when selecting the best CPR class is the size of that class. This is because a lower number of students in a class attract adequate individual attention from the instructor.

In the case of online certification classes, one must ensure that they follow the most recent guideline set out by the American Heart Association and American Red Cross, for them to receive the deserved recognition. However, online classes are generally not favored by most employers, thus one has to confirm with their employer prior to any enrollment.
